EXPERIENCE
Extensive experience, gained in over 30 years involvement in the Building
and Construction industry as a Master Builder, Quantity Surveyor and Building
Disputes Settlement Practitioner.
Experienced
in medium to large, industrial, commercial, residential, educational and
institutional works (L.U. Simon Builders – 15 years) and in large
project management arrangements, e.g.:
Station Pier Condominiums.
Sound grounding
in both office and on-site building operations including technical, financial,
administrative, organisational, managerial, tendering and purchasing functions.
Director/General
Manager of own building company (MBAV member) specialising in prestige
home and smaller multi-unit residential and medium size commercial/industrial
building works.
Principal in
private practice as a consultant, as a consulting Master Builder, Quantity
Surveyor and Building Disputes Settlement Practitioner.
Intricate knowledge
of Building Contracts and their operation including: AS 4000, AS 2124,
JCC, GCC, NPWC, SBW 2, HC 5, HIC 4 and SC 6, head contract and relevant
companion sub-contract standard form suites. Expertise with financial
institutions tripartite agreements.

A) In accord with current professional and building industry practice have
attended may courses including the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators
Australia Arbitration and Adjudicator Accreditation courses, the
Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Adjudication Seminar and Expert
Witness Course, the Master Builders Association of Victoria Certificate
III in Occupational Health and Safety and other occasional seminars, the
Australian Institute of Building and the Building Disputes Practitioners
Society’s occasional seminars and site visits and other matters
pertaining to the Building and Construction Industry. This is a continuing
commitment.
B) In addition to attending courses and events I was
the President of the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of
Building (2007 – 2009) and a member of the AIB’s National Council
(2007 – 2009). In these capacities I have kept up to date with trends
and practices in the professions and in industry.
